Hey all,

I just recently purchased a 1000HA for $350 from Amazon.  It just arrived today, and before I got a chance to open it Amazon sent me an email regarding the impending release date of the 1000HE.  I compared the specs, and it doesn't look like it's such a huge upgrade - but it is only ~$25 more than the one I currently have.  I still have not opened the box, as I am debating whether or not to send it back and get the 1000HE.

I don't think the extra 3 hours of battery life will make such a huge difference for me, as I am usually plugged in on my laptops and, if I need to go unplugged, it's usually for less than 6 hours.  But I'm wondering - are there any other features that really stand out?

I'm considering just keeping the 1000HA so I don't have to wait for Amazon to process my return and then send the 1000HE.

What do you guys think?

The 1000HE has a 8700mAH battery, but estimated maximum battery life is measured by Battery Mark (Super Hybrid Engine Power-Saving mode with both WiFi and Camera disabled).Your Eee PC 1000HA might give you 7hrs under these circumstances. The 1000HE also host the latest Intel ATOM Processor, N280 and a slightly improved keyboard, but it still remains an Eee PC 1000. When you purchase a 6-cell/8700maH battery separately (supposed you can find one) you might pay $75.00 at least though.

So you get more value for money, but that's often the case, when purchasing a new notebook or netbook. Better and cheaper models appear on the market quickly. I'm still happy with my Eee PC 901, which was launched 8 months ago and there wasn't much choice back then. And remember the 1000HE can only be pre-ordered right now. ASUS doesn't say when it ships and Eee PC shipments have been delayed before...

But if the box is still closed..... Hmmm.. It is an improvement for just $25.00....

Those are good points.  However, I just decided to go with the 1000HA.  I wanted to get my work transferred ASAP and I do not feel like waiting through delays, etc. like you mentioned.

Thanks!
